Equine Body Worker® information

Graduates of the Equine Body Worker® certification program are trained in the application of equine sports massage, health care and equine science. They are allowed the use of the title (EBW) after successful completion of the Equine Body Worker® certification foundation course, which are presented throughout the world by the internationally-renowned school of Equinology®, Inc. Equinology®, Inc. was founded in 1994 by its current President, Debranne Pattillo, who is a Master Equine Body Worker®, author of the foundation program and one of the international course instructors.

The school, which has branches throughout the United States of America, Canada, United Kingdom, South Africa, Brazil, Australia and New Zealand, and presents in additional countries throughout the world, currently counts over 1,000 EBW graduates.

Many graduates have gone on to complete the higher levels of certification offered by Equinology, Inc – the EBW Level II® (EBW II) and Master Equine Body Worker® (MEBW) certifications as well as specialty studies in non-invasive complementary modalities such as Myofascial Release, CranioSacral and acupressure.

Equinology®, Inc. has become known as a leader in the field and has actively raised the education bar for the industry. All courses are presented by leading veterinarians and specialists in their respective fields, and course group numbers are limited to promote as much hands-on experience as theoretical tuition. Students are required to submit set externships and will only gain course credit once these externships have been successfully completed. The course curriculum encompasses all aspects of healthcare science including intensive anatomy, biomechanics, principles of farrier science, dentistry and saddlefitting, nutrition, sports medicine, neurology, exercise physiology, stretching and rehabilitation techniques and more.

Equinology®,Inc. actively encourages a multidisciplinary approach to client care, and team work with veterinarians, owners, riders, trainers, nutritionists, farriers, saddlefitters, dentists and fellow therapists are always emphasized.

The program is regularly attended by veterinarians and working professionals wishing to enhance their knowledge. Equinology®, Inc. is approved in the United States by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) as a continuing education Approved Provider. Equinology®'s courses are approved and recognized by the International Equine Body Worker® Association (www.iebwa.com), the McTimoney Chiropractic Association and the Society of Osteopaths in Animal Practice (United Kingdom). In additional, the Equinology®, Inc. program forms an active part of the BSc in Equine Sports Therapy, presented by Writtle College and University of Essex in the United Kingdom.
